COMMUNITY

"COMMUNITY" this month features the 10th MUSE. located in Kent, Ohio.

The 10th MUSE COFFEEHOUSE is dedicated to providing women in Kent and the surrounding area with Musical entertainment as well as exposure to a variety of art forms all presented by an for WOMEN. The collective which sponsors the MUSE believes that Women need a space of their own where they can express themselves musically, artistically and politically in a supportive, nonthreatening environment. It is their desire to make such space available. The 10th MUSE is open the first and third Saturday of each month at 202 N. Lincoln St. behind the HILLEL House in Kent, Ohio. Doors open at 8 p.m. with music at 9:30 p.m. Sliding scale donation fee. Non-alcoholic.

The name 10th MUSE has its' origins in Greek Mythology where each of the nine arts was represented by Muse. The combination of all of these arts in one area fed to the name 10th MUSE. Also, Sappho herself was known as the 10th Muse.

The 10th MUSE will be holding a reorganizational meeting on August 27th at 7:30 p.m. Any women interested in working with the collective are welcome to attend. Also, any women interested in performing are invited to attend.

The COMMUNITY CALENDAR was established to serve all of the HIGH GEAR circulation area. If your group has an item they would like listed on the CALENAR, please send the information to HIGH GEAR, COMMUNITY CALENDAR, P.O. Box 6177, Cleveland, Ohio 44101.

All information submitted should have the following information: 1. Men only. Women only, or Mixed. 2. Specific location of event is possible, otherwise a phone number which can be called for further Information. 3. Type of event. and 4. A name and phone number which can be called to verify the information received. If an organized group is submitting the information, a brief description of the group's goals and purpose would be appreciated for use in the CALENDAR'S COMMUNITY SECTION. SUBMISSION DATE FOR ALL ITEMS IS THE 15th OF THE PRECEDING MONTH.
